How to Define User Roles in Boardly
Important Prerequisite
You must have administrator rights to modify user roles. If you do not have these rights, contact the main administrator of your Boardly account.
Access the Company Global Page
- From any page in Boardly, locate your profile picture at the top right of the navigation bar.
- Click on your profile picture to open the dropdown menu.
- In the dropdown menu, click on your company name.
For more details, see our guide on the global company view.
Steps to Modify a User's Role
- On the company global page, scroll down to the user list.
- Click on the user whose role you want to modify.
- You will be redirected to the user's detailed view.
- Locate the section displaying the user's current role.
- Use the dropdown list to select the user's new role.
- After selecting the new role, the change will be automatically saved.
Available Roles in Boardly
- Company Administrator: Access to the company section, user management, subscriptions, and company settings.
- User: Cannot access the company section, but can collaborate on shared dashboards.
Tip
Make sure to assign appropriate roles based on each user's responsibilities. A role that is too restrictive can limit productivity, while a role that is too permissive can pose security risks.
Implications of Changing a Role
- The role change takes effect immediately.
- Remember to inform the user of the change to their role and the new associated permissions.
Important Note
Modifying a user's role can have a significant impact on their access to data and Boardly features. Make sure you understand the implications before proceeding with any changes.
