How to set the user assignment method in Boardly
Important prerequisite
You must have administrator rights to modify the user assignment method. If you don't have these rights, contact the main administrator of your Boardly account.
Access the company global page
- From any Boardly page, locate your profile picture at the top right of the navigation bar.
- Click on your profile picture to open the dropdown menu.
- In the dropdown menu, click on your company name.
For more details, check our guide on the company global view.
Steps to modify the assignment method
- On the company global page, click on the "Edit" button in the Actions section.
- A modal window will open, displaying the company settings.
- Locate the "User Definition Method" field.
- Choose between the two available options:
- Declarative: Users connecting with the same domain as the company will be automatically attached.
- Manual: You will define yourself which users to invite to the company.
- After making your choice, click "Save changes".
Implications of assignment methods
Declarative Method
- Automation of user addition based on email domain
- Reduced administrative workload for adding new users
- Potential risk of unintentional addition of users with the same domain (e.g., subsidiaries with the same domain)
Manual Method
- Complete control over adding users to the company space
- Need to manually invite each new user
- Ideal for companies requiring strict access control
Tip
Choose the method that best suits your company's structure and security needs. The declarative method is ideal for large companies with a unique domain, while the manual method is better suited for organizations requiring more granular control.
After modification
Once the assignment method has been modified:
- The changes are effective immediately
- For the declarative method: new users will be automatically added upon their first connection
- For the manual method: you will need to manually invite new users
